Whickham Strings is an orchestra for students aged 10 to 15 years of age, playing violin, viola, cello and double bass.

Staff

The orchestra is led and directed by Mr John Finnon and Mr Erardo Evans of Gateshead Schools’ Music Service

Membership

The entry level is approximately ABRSM grade 3 standard.

Repertoire

Their current repertoire includes an extended piece by Philip Willbye

Rehearsals

The orchestra meet each Monday during term time at Whickham Comprehensive School between 4.30pm and 6.30 pm

Concerts and Events

Whickham Strings have played in Spain, France, Italy and Austria, and  have also performed in the Senior Showcase Concert at The Sage Gateshead; and the Junior Showcase Concert at the Dryden Centre.
